Islamabad, Pakistan – May 3, 2021

iENGINEERING announced today that it has received a growth grant amounting to PKR 7 million from USAID Small and Medium Enterprise Activity (SMEA) fund under their COVID-19 response on revitalization of SMEs. The grant aims to enable skill diversification through job creation for under-privileged and low-skilled human resources in Pakistan to scale up AI-Enabled services for the US market. The company has its offices in Islamabad and is training these low-skilled resources to be able to perform data processing services. The grant will allow iENGINEERING to create around thirty new jobs and train the low-skilled labor of Pakistan to support next-generation IT solutions.

The grant was awarded by USAID Pakistan under their SMEA initiative which is aimed at enabling local small and medium sized businesses to scale their businesses in order to create jobs, boost sales and increase exports. This grant was a part of SMEA’s efforts to help SMEs in selected sectors affected through the economic crises in the onset of COVID-19 pandemic.

The company’s CEO, Riaz Ahmad, proudly stated “The grant positions us to hire more resources and train the youth of Pakistan, when most of the companies in the market are laying off due to the pandemic. We have been in the industry for more than two decades and clearly see a huge market for this solution.” iENGINEERING was previously declared the “Winner” in the “Research and Development” category at P@SHA ICT Awards 2019, for this solution. Their research paper titled “Automated Real-Time Roadway Asset Inventory: Integrating Artificial Intelligence Research into Practice-Ready Solutions” got accepted and published in TRR 2020 (Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board). The presentation for this research paper also got accepted for presentation by the Transportation Research Board for their January 2020 conference in Washington, DC.
